Innovation in Urban Mobility at its Peak at the Third SCALE-UP General Assembly in Turku

From 11-13 June 2014, the SCALE-UP project consortium met at TUAS's EduCity campus in Turku, Finland for their third General Assembly & Annual Event. The event highlighted the project progress made in upscaling urban mobility across European Urban Nodes, focusing on integration from urban to TEN-T levels.

The three-day gathering served as a unique opportunity for SCALE-UP partners to unite & exchange insights across the mobility measures tested in the 3 SCALE-UP Urban Nodes - Antwerp (Belgium), Madrid (Spain) and Turku (Finland) - before entering the fourth and final year of the EU-funded project and initiating the evaluation process of all measures deployed.

Overview of SCALE-UP Progress at Interim Review Meeting

On 19 June 2024, the Project Management Board (PMB) of the SCALE-UP project, which consists of the Project Coordinators and the WP Leaders, met at the Den Bell offices of Project Coordinator City of Antwerp in Antwerp (Belgium) for the second Interim Review meeting with Mr Yannick Bousse, Project Officer at the European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).

Representatives from each Work Package (WP) shared their key findings and milestones achieved in their efforts to enhance urban mobility in the three Urban Nodes participating in the project: Antwerp (Belgium), Madrid (Spain), and Turku (Finland).

Advancing Sustainable Mobility: Highlights from SCALE-UP’s Participation at the TRA in Dublin

 Reshaping the Future of Mobility: SCALE-UP Shines at Connecting Europe Days 2024

From 2-5 April 2024, SCALE-UP was present at the Connecting Europe Days (formerly known as TEN-T Days) which took place at the Square Meeting Center in Brussels, Belgium and was organised under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union this year.

SCALE-UP was present with a dedicated stand N° 16. Throughout the event, among 80 stands represented various projects with complimentary or related visions. MOVE21, the sister project of SCALE-UP, also had a dedicated booth, N° 12, where it showcased its developments and current actions.

Urban Nodes Alliance Position Paper: Empowering Cities and Regions to Build the TEN-T

The Urban Nodes Alliance, a coalition of prominent European networks representing cities, regions, and territorial groupings, has unveiled a landmark publication, entitled “Urban Nodes: Empowering Cities and Regions to Build the TEN-T”. It aims at fortifying the governance and funding mechanisms crucial to the success of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).

Additionally, this comprehensive document represents the culmination of extensive collaboration and deliberation among key stakeholders.

A sustainable and Resilient Transport Network Bringing Europe Closer Together

On 13 June 2024, the European Commission welcomed the final adoption of the Regulation underpinning the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) by the European Parliament and the Council.

The revised Regulation significantly enhances EU efforts to build a sustainable and resilient network as the backbone of the internal market by setting ambitious targets for European transport infrastructure.

EU Policy: Cycling Declaration Hailed as ‘Historic’ moment for Europe

On 3 April 2024, the European Parliament, the Council and the European Commission signed a joint European Declaration on Cycling in Brussels, Belgium. The declaration was welcomed by the European Cyclists Federation (ECF).

Governments commit to “significantly increasing safe and coherent cycling infrastructure across Europe” and increasing safely for cyclists, “in particular by physical separation of cycle paths from motorised traffic where relevant, or by ensuring safe speeds in mixed traffic”.
