Shared city bikes received a warm welcome in a small town in Southwest Finland
This summer 20 shared bicycles arrived in Loimaa, a small town of just over 15,000 inhabitants. The bikes will be deployed in the town in Southwest Finland for both residents and tourists to try out until the end of October. The city bike trial is a SCALE-UP project measure. SCALE-UP is an EU-funded action, which started in June 2021 with a total duration of four years, that aims to increase inclusive mobility chances in three urban nodes Madrid, Antwerp, and Turku.

Three Transportation Tech Trends That Will Shape Cities And Countries
Across cities and countries, technology and transportation have become increasingly interwoven. From digital ticketing to ride-hail apps, technology has made it so transportation is more widely available and easier to use and drives us toward a more sustainable world.
In this article three transportation digital techs are mentioned highlighting the impact on the cities already embarrassed them. Vienna, Austria, is one example. The city leverages the Wien Mobil app for its users to plan their trip by locating bus or train stops, self-service bicycles, car-sharing, cabs, electric scooters, and available parking lots—all paid for by a single integrated fare.
Cities join forces along the green mobility path
A city’s journey towards sustainable mobility doesn’t need to be lonely nor to start from scratch. Instead of wading through uncharted waters, municipalities can draw great inspiration from peers with long-term experience.
Chances are, most green transport challenges that one city faces have already been tackled by other urban planners before. This is the idea at the heart of the CIVITAS Replication and Deployment programme. Running until 2027, the initiative was just launched in Seville as part of Urban Mobility Days, the EU’s leading yearly urban mobility event.
A call is now open inviting municipalities to express an interest in joining the programme. Among the candidates, CIVITAS will select 12 challenge cities and 24 champion cities whose mission is to address specific urban sustainable mobility issues together.
