First SCALE-UP Capacity Building Webinar A Success
In support of the 3 urban nodes of SCALE-UP - Antwerp, Madrid and Turku - a capacity building webinar has been held on 10 November 2021. Its main purpose was to give each city the right tools to evaluate the context of change and to correctly assess the potential innovative mobility measures ahead.
To ensure maximum impact of each project activity, guest Peter Jones (Professor of Transport and Sustainable Development at University College London & Member of the SCALE-UP Advisory Board) and host Transport & Mobility Leuven shared use-cases and introduced 4 key CREATE indicators for successful innovation:
Mood (and Motivation): Level of acceptance of a new type of transport policy;
Mass: Capacity to make change happen;
Momentum: Elements to speed up change;
Mechanisms: Strong processes to control and manage change.
All urban node representatives shared the current situation of their city, creating a baseline map, which allows them to better track and plan measures depending on existing issues, risks, but also potential. Furthermore, this approach allows the cities to concretely evaluate which changes can be attributed to SCALE-UP project activities and which ones might be influenced due to external factors and general evolutions.
