SCALE-UP Urban Node Madrid Kick-Off Meeting

The second Urban Node in the SCALE-UP Project has held a kick-off day on 08 October 2021, consisting of several presentations and discussions addressing all of the planned tasks as well as available resources and responsibilities. The Urban Node consists of several partners including the City of Madrid, the Municipal Transport Authority (EMT), the Regional Transport Authority (CRTM) and the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) .

All measures are aligned with 5 mobility, safety, health and sustainability strategies on a national, regional and city level. The shared responsibilities and ownership of different stakeholders in the Madrid city area has been identified as one of the main challenges SCALE-UP is set to overcome.

A total of 8 measures are to be implemented within the Madrid city area:

  1. Multi-level governance & stakeholder cooperation;

  2. Improved Park & Ride hubs with multimodal public transport connection;

  3. Mobility hubs for sustainable last mile logistics;

  4. MaaS, digitalisation and data-driven mobility management;

  5. Scaling-up of active e-mobility services;

  6. Clean mobility solutions, including supply and storage;

  7. Car-free areas to promote active mobility;

  8. Multimodal nudging at regional level.

The meeting also served in presenting the current state of transport within the city and explaining the scope of the introduced measures.
