SCALE-UP partners attend Road Transport Research Conference in Brussels
SCALE-UP partners ETRA I+D (Technical Coordinator), EMT Madrid and STA attended this year’s edition of the Road Transport Research (RTR) Conference. The conference is the landmark event for EU-funded research and innovation actions (RIAs and IAs) and gathered in total 61 EU-funded projects this year. More than 400 persons attended the event in person over 3 days (14-16 Feburary 2023) in the BluePoint in Brussels, Belgium.
Although SCALE-UP was not yet part of any of the sessions, consortium partners were active in presenting related and previous work of other projects as speakers in several panels.
Mr. Sergio Fernández Balaguer of EMT Madrid represented the MOMENTUM project (2019-2022) within the panel “city-led innovation for a renewed urban mobility”, which is also highly relevant to the SCALE-UP project activities in Madrid, Spain and involves several SCALE-UP partners. The project developed and tested emerging mobility solutions such as MaaS (Mobility as a Service), CAVs (Connected Automated Vehicles), new shared mobility services and demand responsive transport and analyses how these are bringing radical changes to urban mobility. The goal of MOMENTUM laid a foundation for further developments in the subsequent SCALE-UP project, by developping a set of new data analysis methods, transport models and planning support tools to capture the impact of these new transport options on the urban mobility ecosystem, in order to support cities in the task of designing the right policy mix to exploit the full potential of these emerging mobility solutions.
Also on the second day of the conference in a panel on “Driver behaviour and acceptance of connected, cooperative and automated transport“, Mrs. Friederike L. Kühl of the Smart Transportation Alliance (STA) represented the PAsCAL project (2019-2022). The project focused on capturing and enhancing the perception and capabilities of drivers and users of CCAM technologies from a behavioural perspective.
Apart from the two presentations, the conference offered a great opportunity for the consortium partners to exchange information and discuss also the upcoming General Assembly and Annual Event in April 2023 in Madrid, Spain. The event was a grand success with a high number of relevant attendees to explore synergies old and new between partners, projects and the European Commission’s CINEA agency. SCALE-UP will be included in the programme of future editions of the conference - see you in Brussels next spring!
