Moving People and the Economy across the EU and in Cities: Join the SCALE-UP Urban Nodes Platform Event

On 13 November 2024, the Urban Nodes Platform Event “Moving People and the Economy Across the EU & in Cities” will take place in Antwerp, Belgium.

In the framework of Horizon project SCALE-UP, Eurocities and the City of Antwerp invite you to join the second Urban Nodes Platform event, “Moving People and the Economy Across the EU & in Cities,” in Antwerp, Belgium on 13 November 2024. The event will take place at Lindner Hotel Antwerp – JDV by Hyatt.

The Urban Nodes Platform, established as part of the SCALE-UP project, aims to engage urban nodes in the TEN-T network through knowledge exchanges and policy dialogues. Under this platform, a range of meetings and webinars have been organised to promote the sharing of best practices and gather feedback on urban nodes and TEN-T corridors. These activities bring together representatives from urban nodes, national administrations, EU policymakers, TEN-T corridor coordinators, transport operators, European networks, researchers, and academics. All relevant stakeholders are encouraged to register and attend the event.

The event will delve into the role of urban nodes in the TEN-T network, focusing on how they’re governed and how transport investments are funded. Now that the revised TEN-T regulation has been adopted and published, the conversation will move towards practical implementation. Participants will discuss what urban nodes need to meet the new requirements, their investment priorities, and how these can be addressed through future funding under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for Transport.

The sessions will cover several key themes, including:

  • Governance of urban nodes and their role within TEN-T governance

  • Investment needs and financial resources for urban nodes

  • The priorities of cities and how these are reflected in their roles as TEN-T urban nodes

  • Capacity building and support programmes for urban nodes

  • Innovative measures and planning concepts that integrate long-distance transport with urban mobility.
